Inside Review of Disney Pixar Movie Inside Out

Inside Out Promotional Poster l Review of Disney Pixar's Movie Inside Out l mum-bo-jumbo.comI was fortunate enough to recently attend the movie premiere of the new Disney Pixar movie, ‘Inside Out’ in Perth, Western Australia.

I took along my husband, my toddler son and my mother in law to enjoy in the festivities.

Tash from Natasha Louise Enterprises hosted a great premiere.

With activities based on ‘Inside Out’ including miniature train rides (Train of Thought), a unicorn bouncy castle (Imaginary Land) and even flavoured ice (Brain Freeze) it was no surprise the kids all had a great time!

I was taken aback when Master Two showed no interest in having a train ride opting rather to “drive” the arcade car games….even without any credit!

After enjoying the arcade games and other festivities, it was time to head off into the cinema. I went a little overboard with the popcorn and in my haste, I ordered Master Two a large popcorn. The box was almost half his size!! It’s a shame I didn’t think to take a photo…

This was the first time my son had attended a cinema so I was a little nervous. Thankfully with Dad and Nan on hand for support, this helped to allay my anxiety.

My son behaved very well and boredom only set in with around 15 minutes of the movie remaining. Dad helped me out by taking him outside and keeping him amused while I watched the remainder of the film.

All in all, we had a great time at the premiere of Inside Out. Read on to find out about the film’s story line.

Review of Disney Pixar Movie Inside Out

Directed by Pete Docter, Inside Out is set in the mind of 11 year old Riley. Riley’s emotions Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith), Disgust (voiced by Mindy Kaling), Fear (voiced by Bill Hader) and Anger (voiced by Lewis Black) all play a pivotal role on Riley’s personality and how she remembers her experiences.

After an unprecedented mishap, Joy, the unofficial leader of the emotions, finds herself lost in Riley’s long term memory along with sidekick Sadness.

Attempting to make their way back to headquarters, Joy and Sadness recruit Riley’s imaginary friend from her three year old self, Bing Bong to help them with the journey home.

In the meantime, without the leadership of Joy and the influence of Sadness, Riley’s world is turned inside out. The trio begin to see how this is affecting Riley by the major changes they witness in her long term memory.

Facing the perils of being lost forever, Joy realises the important role each of the emotions play and in the end, it is the least likely emotion of all who brings Riley back from the brink.

With a generous amount of joy, a few moments of fear, a dash a disgust, an average amount of anger, finished off with some sadness, Inside Out is rather confronting when it comes to examining human emotions.

Although the film is yet to be classified, it is suggested it will be rated G or PG. I recommend it for older children (8 years +) and rate it 3.5 stars out of 5.

I was not paid for this review however I did receive free tickets to the movie premiere. All comments are based on my experience and personal opinion of the film and the premiere. Review of Disney Pixar Movie Inside Out l mum-bo-jumbo.com
