Valentine’s Day Crafts: True Love Toddler Art

Try Finger Painting - Toddler Tuesday Linky Party mum-bo-jumbo.com

As some of you may know, Master Two loves to paint. Thank goodness his painting skills have somewhat improved since this photo was taken!

Last week he experimented with various tools and textures to paint with and had a great time. I thought it would be nice to follow up his textured painting experience with his first attempt at making his own Valentine’s Day crafts, a painting for his Daddy!

You will need:

  • Non toxic paint (We used gold, silver and red paint)
  • Toilet roll
  • Paintbrush
  • Paper
  • Paint tray (I use recycled fruit and vegetable styrofoam trays)
  • Baby wipes

  • Step 1

Pour out the required paint onto the styrofoam tray and set aside.

  • Step 2

Shape one end of the toilet roll into a love heart. This will be used by your toddler to stamp love heart shapes onto the paper.

  • Step 3

Demonstrate to your toddler how to dip the toilet roll into the paint. Remove any excess paint.

Let them stamp away to their heart’s content! (Pun intended!)

  • Step 4

Adding hand prints is a great way to personalise the true love toddler art.

  • Step 5

Let your child alternate between stamping love hearts with the toilet roll, painting hand prints and using a paint brush.

Sit back and let your toddler explore and experiment, aiding them when they need it. Be warned, they might not want your help. See photo below.

Top Tip: Use baby wipes to clean your toddler’s hands in between each method.

    • Hi Latisha! Thanks for stopping by, I am thrilled to connect with you. If you see the first photo in the post of my son and his finger painting, that was the level of his abilities at around the same age as your son is now! But every child is different so it really depends on their capabilities. In saying that, you can only try! Good luck
